Thanks for commenting. We vacuumed before the test strictly because of the reason you described. As for wetness, the Bissell is much better than the Rug Doctor in that category. Because of the nature of the application, we didn’t bother with dry passes. In the home, we always get the carpet as dry as possible!

Nice comparison test guys. Here are somethings to consider for your next test:
Make sure you pre-vacuum well up to 80% of loose contamination can be removed during this step.
1 wet and 2 dry passes will give you your best results. If this Bissell works in both directions great. Keep water as hot as possible every 18f degrees 2xs cleaning power.
Over-wetting is a big problem anything wet after 24hours will start to grow mold
Got mine in the States from Bed Bath and Beyond with 20% off anything online coupon and free shipping (in the continental United States). Even after state taxes, I saved nearly $100 off retail.
I’m glad! No problem. When I was trying to make a decision, the first place I looked was youtube. When I saw there wasn’t a comparison video, I knew I had to make one.
Amazon.com is a popular place. I know Bed, Bath and Beyond carries them also. I bought mine at a local electronics store because I had a coupon from Bissell.
Bissell Green machine is more convenient. That being said. Is it durable though?.. I hear that it has a 5 year warranty. That being said, is enough to convince me to buy the Bissell ; )
That’s a shortcoming of the Rug Doctor. It cannot be pushed forward, only pulled backwards. The Bissell is designed to go both ways, which is one of the reasons why it is a superior machine.
The guy with the Rug Doctor was lifting it up when moving forward. The one with the Bissell had it down while moving forward so he had twice as many passes when it comes to actually having the machine on the carpet.
I seriously doubt it. Visit the product pages on Amazon.com to see what people think of both machines. The evidence is clear, regardless of where each machine was built. Feel free to upload your own video.
IVE TRIED BOTH MACHINES WITH SAME CLEANING AGENTS, AND HANDS DOWN THE RUG DOCTOR OUT PERFORMED THE BISSELL, ACCORDING TO CONSUMER REPORTS THEY RATE THE RUG DOCTOR THE BEST.
Great question. I have not done that and I no longer have access to the Rug Doctor. However, I have experience with a lot of different types of cleaning solutions and I have to say they are all pretty much the same. I always use generic brand carpet cleaning solutions (Zep, Odoban, Pro Force, and Maintex – which I think is the best).
Thanks for this video, it helped me decided on trying Bissell Big Green. I had used the Rug Doctor twice with poor results. I even hired some professional and it wasnt the best. I Have used the Bissell BG twice now and it is an excellent machine. Uses less water, which means less changing of the tank. Also uses less soap. And the results are excellent. Thanks

This video helped me choose Bissell Big Green over the Rug Doctor. Thank you very much for producing it.
Sadly, another example that “Made In The USA” doesn’t mean what it used to.

Where do you get a Bissel Green Machine?

The Big Green also has a 5 year Warranty!!!

Did you or could you switch cleaning solutions in each machine to determine if the difference in performance is the machine or the liquid?
You’re welcome!

So Bissell Big Green for the win!!
Those are water lines… and some people don’t even think I used water in the Rug Doctor…
Awesome! I’m glad you like it! Thanks for commenting. Some people don’t believe how great this machine is.
that rug doctor looked like it left dirty lines on the side while dragging it back. The bissell practically with one treatment looked great.
I bought it on Amazon for $400 WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!! The thing is every bit this video shows… AMAZING!!
